(WASHINGTON, May 2, 2007) – Just released, the third edition of the ASHTM Self-Assessment Program (ASH-SAP) is a comprehensive educational resource from the American Society of Hematology designed to help hematologists, oncologists, internists, pediatricians, and fellows in training stay current with the latest advancements in the rapidly evolving disciplines of adult and pediatric hematology and oncology.
The printed third edition and companion Web site offer a new chapter on plasma cell dyscrasias, up-to-date clinical vignettes, and a self-assessment test with more than 200 case-based, multiple-choice questions and critiques.
Completion of the ASH-SAP provides thorough board and recertification preparation and 50 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. In addition, a Maintenance of Certification (MOC) version of the program, the ASH-SAP/MOC, offers the opportunity to earn 70 medical knowledge points toward recertification through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). In order to support physicians enrolled in MOC, upon request ASH will provide a free copy of the ASH-SAP/MOC to recertifying hematologists whose certification expires now through 2010.
In addition, through a generous educational grant from Amgen, ASH is providing complimentary copies of the ASH-SAP to all U.S. and Canadian fellows in hematology, hematology/oncology, pediatric hematology/oncology, transfusion medicine, hematology-pathology, and oncology programs to help them further their education.
