Humana Press, a publisher of medical and scientific books and journals, was acquired by Springer in September 2006. Humana Press content is immediately available on www.springerlink.com along with more than 1,500 peer-reviewed Springer journals and more than 22,000 eBooks. Beginning with the subscription year 2008, libraries and research institutions may purchase Humana Press journals through Springer. All issues previously available on the Humana Press platform are now available on SpringerLink which includes most journals starting from the inaugural issue or from 2000 and earlier. Archival conversion has been initiated with the intent to provide electronically available content to the first issue of each journal. In fact, over 240 of such issues are available on SpringerLink now.

With all content and subscribers migrated to SpringerLink the Humana Press journals platform will be deactivated 31 January 2008. On 1 February 2008 access to journals on HumanaPress.com or HumanaJournals.com will no longer be available.

“The close cooperation benefits both Humana Press and Springer. The integration of the respected Humana Press journals in the fields of molecular biology, neurosciences or cancer research is a substantial added-value for SpringerLink. On the other hand, our journals will benefit tremendously from services such as Online First™, CrossRef and the alert services”, said Ray Colón, General Manager, Humana Press. Humana Press’ flagship journals are Molecular Neurobiology, Neuroinformatics, Immunologic Research, Journal of Molecular Neuroscience, Molecular Biotechnology, Cell Biochemistry and Biophysics, Endocrine, Clinical Reviews in Allergy and Immunology, and NeuroMolecular Medicine.

The Cancer Drug Discovery and Development series and the Contemporary Cardiology series are two esteemed book series in its publishing program. Humana Press also publishes a number of successful major reference works, such as Principles of Molecular Medicine. Humana Press has a backlist of approximately 1,500 titles in clinical medicine and life sciences and about 150 titles are added each year. Springer will offer Humana Press eBook titles on SpringerLink beginning in 2008.

In addition to the journal and book portfolio, Humana Press also publishes SpringerProtocols.com, which includes the Methods in Molecular Biology series, the Methods in Molecular Medicine series, the Neuromethods series and many others. SpringerProtocols.com is a unique research methods database that operates outside of the journal and book searching environment. Springer Protocols will be launched in January 2008.
