Grant and Award Announcement

European College of Neuropsychopharmacology

The European College of Neuropsychopharmacology (ECNP) announces a unique opportunity for ECNP-members to support young scientists by offering a maximum of three ECNP Research Grants for Young Scientists each year. Each grant consists of a maximum amount of € 50,000.

The objective of the grant is to provide the opportunity for committed, promising European young scientists in neuropsychopharmacology and/or closely related disciplines to expand their knowledge and/or skills by working on scientific projects and to study the practice of neuropsychopharmacology preferably in a different country, thereby also creating new and international connections. Accordingly, the research work should be carried out at a European academic department of neuropsychopharmacology and/or closely related discipline.

To qualify for an ECNP Research Grant for Young Scientists, the applicant must:

  • be a citizen of a European country (including Russia, Turkey and Israel)
  • have a PhD or MD degree
  • be within the first 5 years of employment after receiving the PhD or MD degree
  • be actively engaged full-time in clinical or basic research, in neuropsychopharmacology and/or closely related disciplines at an institute or department with an ECNP-member as supervisor
  • have a good working knowledge of the English language
  • be able to fulfil the obligations of an awardee

The duration of the project to be proposed is between 3 and 12 months, starting within a year after the application is granted. For this year the applications can be submitted until 28 February 2008.

About ECNP

The European College of Neuropsychopharmacology (www.ecnp.eu) was established in 1987 on the initiative of scientists and clinicians working in Europe in the convergent disciplines in neuropsychopharmacology. ECNP envisages to encourage research and to facilitate communication of research and ideas in this field.

To fulfil this aim ECNP has, amongst others, established the annual scientific congresses.

ECNP is founder member of the European Brain Council and the Federation of European Neuroscience Societies, and member of IUPHAR.
