Springer launches StemCellGateway.net

Free website offers stem cell research results to the scientific community

Business Announcement

Springer

StemCellGateway focuses specifically on stem cell content for the research community, including seasoned researchers and students. Visitors to the website can obtain news, gain access to research and educational tools designed to assist in exploring stem cell research possibilities, as well as personalize their accounts to receive the most relevant content. The site offers abstracts and selected articles from the information platform www.SpringerLink.com, where subscribers can access additional full-text articles. StemCellGateway also features stem cell-specific links to SpringerProtocols, which allow scientists to recreate experiments in their own laboratory.

In addition, StemCellGateway also provides a conference calendar that lists stem cell conferences, meetings, and seminars with link outs where possible. The news section focuses on aspects of stem cells from the scientific, ethical or political perspective. These newsfeeds come from competent sites such as Cell Therapy News, Biology News Net, and Medical News Today.

"We are working to establish Springer as a major source of stem cell information. The portal promotes our increasingly successful stem cell publishing program, by allowing researchers to access relevant data in one place," said Ray Colón, Director of Journal Development at Springer.

Dr. Kursad Turksen, editor-in-chief of the journal SCRR, is a researcher at the Ottawa Health Research Institute. He will monitor content and further develop the portal – overseeing content additions, assuring quality, and working with the SCRR editorial board to increase the site's value to stem cell researchers. "Stem cell research is continuously growing, and as such, we intend to add projects to the portal in the future," Turksen said.
