Evelien Bakker, Publishing Editor of Population Studies and Health at Springer, said, "Demography fits our program in population studies extremely well and Springer is very proud to be working with the Population Association of America on the publication of this outstanding journal. Our book and journal list in population studies has expanded extensively in recent years and Demography is a significant addition to Springer's portfolio."

Demography includes articles of interest to population scientists from various disciplines, including the social sciences, geography, history, biology, statistics, business, epidemiology and public health. The quarterly journal includes articles reporting on original research, including theoretical developments, improvements in models or methods, policy evaluations, applications of demographic principles or techniques, assessments of demographic data, and comparative and historical studies.

Editor-in-chief Stewart Tolnay of the University of Washington in Seattle, USA, said, "The editorial team of Demography is very excited about the new partnership between Springer and the Population Association of America. We view this as an excellent opportunity to extend even further the scientific impact of Demography across disciplines and around the world."

Fast publication in Online First™ will provide immediate access to new research results in Demography on www.springerlink.com, Springer's online information platform. Editorial Manager (an online author submission and peer review system), Cross Reference Linking, and Alert services will be fully implemented for the journal. Springer will digitize the back volumes of Demography, making them available to readers through the Springer Online Archives Collection.
