Trips within Colorado examine the evolution of the Colorado Rockies; the nature of the Colorado Headwaters Basin as it relates to the timing of Front Range uplift; the interplay of sedimentation and tectonics as seen in the Garden of the Gods; debris flows in Chalk Creek Valley; geologic and mine map data of the Colorado Mineral Belt; the geologic characteristics of and anthropogenic impacts on the San Juan volcanic field; and the urban Boulder Creek ecosystem.
Trips outside Colorado head to the Lewis and Clark Line, Montana, to examine the tectonic evolution of crustal-scale flower structures in the Rocky Mountains; to the Questa molybdenum mine, New Mexico, for an overview of a USGS project designed to estimate pre-mining groundwater chemistry there; and to the Book Cliffs of Utah to better understand the Cretaceous Western Interior Seaway.
