Springer has launched a new book series in partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) called Global Migration Issues. Three volumes will be published annually with the first volume scheduled for 2011. Written by academic experts and policy specialists in the field of migration and development, each separate volume will focus on a major policy issue.

Global Migration Issues will emphasize global policy challenges, such as the impact of climate change or the global economic crisis on migration. With authors from a wide range of countries, the series will include monographs, multi-authored volumes and edited volumes. Each book in the series will aim to be policy-relevant, written in a style that will appeal to both academic experts and policy-makers and practitioners. Editor of the series is Dr. Frank Laczko, Head of Research and Publications at the International Organization for Migration in Geneva, Switzerland.

Dr. Laczko said, "Over the next 40 years international migration is likely to transform in scale, reach and complexity. The task of formulating a workable global approach to the management of international migration remains a formidable challenge and one that will require both time and effort. The purpose of this new book series is to contribute to the global discussion about the future of migration policy."

Evelien Bakker, Editor for Population Studies and Health at Springer, said, "Currently, most reports on migration policy tend to focus on national or regional perspectives. The goal of this new series will be on publications which have a truly global perspective. We are delighted to be working with the International Organization for Migration to help them achieve their goals."
