The Japanese Society of Applied Entomology and Zoology and Springer will collaborate to publish the society's official journal Applied Entomology and Zoology as of January 2011.
Founded in 1966, Applied Entomology and Zoology is a leading scientific journal covering applied entomology, applied zoology, agricultural chemicals and pest control. Published quarterly, the journal examines insect pests, animal pests, natural enemies, beneficial insects, beneficial animals and more. The editor-in-chief is Dr. Eizi Yano of Kinki University in Nara City, Japan.
Dr. Yano said, "Integrated pest management and conservation of biodiversity, two important aspects in integrated crop management, are increasingly gaining in importance. Applied Entomology and Zoology covers both scientific fields and is therefore essential to the international community. Springer's expertise in publishing will definitely help to further enhance the journal's profile and availability."

Springer will publish Applied Entomology and Zoology in both print and electronic formats, starting with Volume 46, Issue 1. Articles will be published in Online First™ in full text via www.springerlink.com, Springer's online information platform. This ensures immediate distribution of the electronic version of the article before it appears in print.
The Japanese Society of Applied Entomology and Zoology (www.odokon.org/en) was founded in 1957 as a result of a merger between the Japanese Society for Applied Zoology and the Nippon Society of Applied Entomology. The society's members include approximately 2,000 researchers who study insects, mites, spiders, nematodes, birds and other animals.
