ESCEO-AMGEN Fellowship awarded to Swedish and Argentinean researchers

Dr. Helena Johansson, Research fellow at the Centre for Bone Research at Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg, Sweden, and Dr. Maria-Belen Zanchetta, Research fellow at the Instituto de Investigaciones Metabólicas in Buenos Aires, Argentina, have been announced the winners of the 2011 ESCEO-AMGEN Fellowship.

Awarded by the European Society for Clinical and Economic Aspects of Osteoporosis and Osteoarthritis (ESCEO) with support from Amgen, the Fellowship winners are selected on the basis of the quality of their research proposals. The $50,000 USD Fellowship is to be used to support the recipients' fellowship stipends for a period of one year. The aim is to further research excellence in the bone field by supporting eligible institutions which develop and enhance the opportunities for physicians or PhD's training for careers in osteoporosis.

The Fellowships were awarded at a ceremony held during the European Congress on Osteoporosis & Osteoarthritis, a joint congress of ESCEO and the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF).
