Established German journal on controlling goes international

Journal of Management Control joins English-language portfolio starting in 2011

Starting in spring 2011, the German-language journal Zeitschrift für Planung und Unternehmenssteuerung (ZP) will be published entirely in English under the title Journal of Management Control (JoMaC).The journal editors and Springer decided to make this move to keep up with the increasingly international nature of research in this field. The journal appears four times a year and features outstanding papers on business management topics in the fields of management control and controlling. It focuses in particular on empirical and analytical research.

As part of the relaunch, two new editors were appointed: Professor Nils Boysen from the University of Jena (Germany) and Professor Utz Schäffer from WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management, Vallendar (Germany). Renowned international scholars have also joined the editorial board: Professor Teemu Malmi, Helsinki School of Economics (Finland), Professor Marc Orlitzky, Penn State University (USA), Professor Deryl Northcott, University of Auckland (New Zealand), and Professor John Burns, Exeter Business School (UK).

As Managing Editor Professor Uwe Götze from TU Chem¬nitz (Germany) emphasized, "This repositioning gives academics from German-speaking countries an attractive option for disseminating their research results throughout the world in English, the leading language of science." And conversely, international researchers can publish their papers in a scientific journal with a reputation acquired over two decades. The journal enjoys a high reputation in the German-speaking countries as the leading journal on management control and controlling.

The review process is facilitated by an electronic manuscript submission procedure and takes the form of a two-level, double-blind peer reviewing process. In addition, the JoMaC Best Reviewer Award is presented every year in recognition of outstanding work as a reviewer of submitted articles. The standard issues are regularly supplemented by special issues with international editors on current topics, such as the management of intangible assets, measuring corporate environmental performance and experimental research in management accounting.

As one of the world's leading publishers of specialist literature, Springer is so well positioned that JoMaC will be available in all the main university libraries and research institutes. JoMaC greatly enhances the visibility of German-speaking researchers throughout the world.
