Oxford University Press (OUP) is pleased to announce its new publishing partnership with the European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery (EACTS): OUP will be publishing the Association's three journal titles from January 2012.

The journals are European Journal of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery (EJCTS), Interactive CardioVascular and Thoracic Surgery (ICVTS), and Multimedia Manual of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery (MMCTS). Bringing the titles together under a single publisher, OUP aims to create a comprehensive journal programme with the aim of advancing education in the field of cardiovascular and thoracic surgery.

The Editor-in-Chief of EJCTS and ICVTS, Professor Friedhelm Beyersdorf from Freiburg University in Freiburg explained: "The move to Oxford Journals marks a new exciting chapter for the three titles of the European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery. In working with Oxford University Press we have a strong partner on our side with a long tradition of publishing excellence. This partnership will help to further strengthen our publications for the benefit of our authors, society members, and readers." The Editor-in-Chief of MMCTS is Professor Marko Turina from the University Hospital in Zurich.

EJCTS publishes high-quality original scientific reports documenting clinical and experimental advances in cardio-thoracic surgery. It is the leading European journal in the field with an impact factor of 2.293. OUP will start publishing papers online for this journal in autumn2011 with the first issues being published in January 2012. EJCTS is also the official journal of the European Society of Thoracic Surgeons.

ICVTS provides a dynamic platform for the publication of research reports, encouraging academic interaction with extensive commenting facilities. It is also the official journal of the European Society for Cardiovascular and Endovascular Surgery and the European Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion. MMCTS is the premier online manual of cardiovascular and thoracic surgical procedures, with a unique offering of surgical procedures with extensive video material. Both of these titles are freely available online to all users.

Mandy Hill, Publishing Director, UK Academic and Journals at OUP said: "We are very much looking forward to working with the EACTS and the wider cardiothoracic surgery community. Working on the family of publications as well as having them part of our wider medical collection will enable each of the titles to maximize their global profiles."
