LeClair is Georgia Academy of Family Physicians Educator of the Year

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Dr. Bruce M. LeClair, Associate Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the Medical College of Georgia at Georgia Regents University, has received the 2013 Educator of the Year Award from the Georgia Academy of Family Physicians.

LeClair is a former President of the academy currently serving on its House of Delegates and as Co- Chairman of the Legislative Committee. The academy also honored LeClair in 2009 as Georgia's Family Medicine Physician of the Year.

He is a delegate for the American Academy of Family Physicians House of Delegates and recently served as Sergeant-At-Arms.

LeClair, an MCG faculty member for nearly 20 years, is Residency Rotation Director for Community Medicine for Family Medicine and a Core Educator for MCG, lecturing in the Essentials of Clinical Medicine course about public health, health services, epidemiology, and biostatistics as well as tutoring in small groups and teaching physical diagnosis.

He is Director of the Department of Family Medicine Homeless Health Care Service and Course Director of the Homeless Clinic Elective. He serves as a board member for St. Vincent de Paul Health Center/Coordinated Health Services and as a preceptor for the Women's Health Free Clinic, which he founded in 2001 with students from the MCG student chapter of the American Medical Women's Association. He has been the Medical Director for the student-run Health Care Clinic for the Homeless since its inception. He also helped found the La Clinica Latina and the Asian Free Clinics, all student-run clinics collectively known as the Eight Street Free Clinics of Augusta and coordinated with St. Vincent de Paul Health Center.

LeClair also is Director of the MCG Family Medicine Inpatient Service and the department's Quality Coordinator.
