Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, today announced the launch of a new review journal: Current Opinion in Psychology.

Key to the launch of Current Opinion in Psychology is that review articles included evaluate the most interesting and topical papers within the field of psychology. Articles are selected and commented on by experts from the great wealth of original publications across the entire spectrum of research in the psychology discipline. This way the journal is sure to continuously cover those topics within the field that are most novel, relevant and debated.

The journal will be co-edited by Paul A. M. van Lange, Professor in Social Psychology at VU University Amsterdam, the Netherlands and Michael Zvolensky, Director of the Anxiety and Health Research Laboratory / Substance Use Treatment Clinic, University of Houston, US.

"Given the interest in psychology as a scientific discipline and society as a whole, the field is rapidly growing. It is therefore important to be able to highlight and share the latest about very productive programs of research. This is what I envision as one of the primary goals of Current Opinion in Psychology, and why I see it as a great privilege to serve as Co-Editor-in-Chief of the journal," said Professor van Lange.

Professor Zvolensky continued, "With the rapid advancement of theoretical and empirical knowledge in psychological science, it is important to have a journal that can distill key findings across large, but interconnected, lines of work. This type of approach will facilitate the dissemination of scientific knowledge for that vast array of stakeholders and consumers in the marketplace and contribute to the better usage of such information for applied activities."

"Due to increasing demands on time and the ever-expanding research output across the psychology discipline, we identified a need to provide researchers and practitioners with a selection of the most up-to-date and noteworthy advances in field in an easy-to-digest format. With the launch of Current Opinion in Psychology we hope to fulfill this need," said Irene Kanter-Schlifke, Executive Publisher at Elsevier.
