Norman Wolmark, M.D., presents memorial award lecture at SABCS

SAN ANTONIO - Norman Wolmark, MD, a world-renowned expert in breast cancer research, will present the William L. McGuire Memorial Lecture, "The Contribution of NSABP Clinical Trials to the Management of Early Breast Cancer," at the annual meeting of the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium on December 9, 2015. The symposium is being held December 7-12 in San Antonio. Dr. Wolmark was selected by the SABCS Executive and Planning Committees from nominations by distinguished researchers in breast cancer.

Established in 1992, the McGuire Lectureship commemorates the late Dr. William McGuire, who co-founded the SABCS in 1977, and his contributions to oncology. For more information, click here https://www.sabcs.org/2015-Overview.

Dr. Wolmark is a Professor at Drexel University School of Medicine, and Chairman of the NSABP Foundation. As Chairman of the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project (NSABP), he has overseen the design and implementation of the group's breast and bowel cancer clinical trials since 1994. Since 2014, he has served as a Group Chair of NRG Oncology.

Dr. Wolmark is a member of numerous professional societies, including the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) and the American Surgical Association (ASA). He is a reviewer for the Journal of Clinical Oncology and the New England Journal of Medicine, and an editorial board member of the Journal of Women's Cancer and Clinical Breast Cancer. He serves on numerous boards and as an advisor to oncology programs, societies, and institutes throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe.
