From April 19 - 22, 2016, the XVII April International Academic Conference on Economic and Social Development will take place in Moscow. The event is being held by the Higher School of Economics with participation of the World Bank. The Organizing Committee of the Conference is chaired by Evgeny Yasin, Professor and Academic Supervisor of HSE.
The April Conference is Russia's largest internationally recognized academic forum on social sciences and economics. One key feature of this conference is that the University hosts a dialogue between people engaged in both theoretical and practical work, including public officials, members of the business and academic communities, and Russian and international experts; their discussions revolve around academic research into current problems faced by government and society.
The conference plenary sessions this year will discuss reports prepared by researchers on the following topics, among others: Macroeconomics; Development Policy for Financial Markets; Potential for Efficiency Enhancement in State Budget Spending; Russia's Economy: Problems, Solutions, and Consequences; Social Policy; Problems of Education Today; Migration and the Russian Labour Market; Business and Law; Technology Challenges and Innovation; Results of Healthcare Reforms; Administrative Reform and the Reduction of Control and Supervisory Functions; and the Situation on the Global Agricultural Market.
The plenary sessions will feature senior Russian government officials and representatives of the Presidential Administration, representatives from the World Bank and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, leading Russian and international scholars, and CEOs from some of the largest Russian and international companies.
Section meetings will discuss papers covering the results of original academic research on issues of economic and social development.
On April 20, the ceremony for the 2016 National Award in Applied Economics will take place as part of the Conference. This year's winners are Ekaterina Zhuravskaya, Professor at the Paris School of Economics, and Evgeny Yakovlev, Associate Professor at the New Economic School.
The conference will take place at HSE venues (11 Myasnitskaya Ulitsa, 20 Myasnitskaya Ulitsa). The programme conference, list of participants, and conference papers can be found at https:/
