Philadelphia, PA, June 15, 2016 - Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical, and medical information products and services, and the International Society of Nephrology (ISN), the global medical society devoted to advancing kidney care worldwide, today announced the launch of Kidney International Reports (KI Reports). This new bi-monthly, open access journal will publish leading research and developments related to kidney disease.

Led by Editor-in-Chief Jai Radhakrishnan, MD, MS, and an editorial board of experts in the field, KI Reports is designed to be both a forum and a learning center for the improved care of patients with kidney disease. The journal will publish original clinical and select translational articles, as well as other educational content related to the pathogenesis, evaluation, and management of acute and chronic kidney disease, end stage renal disease (including transplantation), acid-base, fluid and electrolyte disturbances, and hypertension.

Discussing the new journal, Dr. Radhakrishnan commented, "With the launch of KI Reports, the nephrology community will benefit from prompt peer review and immediate access to the most important clinical and translational research in the field, with the added benefit of Elsevier's world-class publishing platforms."

KI Reports is currently accepting submissions. The journal will publish original research articles, brief reports, research letters, and case reports, as well as editorials and narrative reviews on recent developments in the literature. Of particular interest are submissions related to clinical trials, epidemiology, systematic reviews (including meta-analyses) and outcomes research. The journal will also provide a platform for wider dissemination of national and regional guidelines and consensus meeting reports. While maintaining a rigorous peer review process, KI Reports will use innovative technology to provide authors novel means to share findings and data with readers in a timely manner. Authors publishing in KI Reports will benefit from rapid peer-review and their papers will be available open access on http://www.kireports.org and on ScienceDirect.

Sarah Pratta, Executive Publisher at Elsevier, commented, "The launch of KI Reports responds to the growing demand from our authors for more publishing outlets in nephrology. As publisher of the International Society of Nephrology's journals, including Kidney International, we are confident of KI Reports' success."
