Russian University to hold an international educational forum in India

November 2-4, Tomsk State University (TSU) is to hold an International Educational Forum - Russian Education as an Opportunity Space. The Forum will bring together representatives of the largest universities of Russia and India, and will contribute to strengthening ties between the countries, as well as to the development of joint educational projects and programs.

The Forum will take place in Jawaharlal Nehru University (New Delhi) and in the Univeristy of Delhi (Delhi). Over 150 participants have already registered. Among them there are teachers, graduate students, and students of Higher Educational Institutions of Russia and India. The working language of the Forum is Russian.

"During the Forum representatives of Russian HEIs will demonstrate potential of Russian education as an integral part of international scientific and educational space", says Natalia Nesterova, an associate professor, Faculty of Philology TSU, member of the organizing committee. The Forum will serve as a platform to find partners in India in order to enhance educational, scientific, and cultural cooperation. It will also promote the idea of studying in Russian at all levels of education.

The Forum will include four tracks. The topics will include but will not be limited to the educational potential of Russia, the ways of development of universities, and Russian culture in the European context. There are workshops, poster exhibitions, and photo exhibitions planned. The III Official work group meeting of the Global Universities Association and Conference Italian University Rectors (CRUI) are scheduled to take place during the Forum.

The second part of the Forum is to begin October 21st in Italy.

The Forum will be held with the support of the Association of Russian and Indian Universities which was founded May 8, 2015. Tomsk State University and Indian Institute of Technology Bombay are the coordinators of the Association. The Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation and the Federal Agency for CIS Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudnichestvo) also took part in the organization of the Forum. The organization of the Forum was supported by a grant from the Federal Special Purpose Program Russian Language in the amount of 1.6 million rubles.
