More than 500 technology leaders from 39 countries, including experts on cyber and hardware security, will descend on the Tufts University Medford/Somerville campus for the 2017 IEEE International Midwest Symposium on Circuits and Systems (MWSCAS) Aug. 6-9.
The symposium will include keynote presentations by prominent scientists, oral and poster sessions, a student paper contest, and tutorials by experts in circuits and systems topics. All areas of electronic circuits and systems will be covered, including the latest innovations in the field around cyber and hardware security, and analog devices.
"We are delighted to be welcoming so many industry leaders to share ideas and collaborate on the latest advances in technology that benefit people every day," said Valencia Joyner Koomson, Ph.D., co-chair of the technical program of the symposium and an associate professor of electrical and computer engineering at the School of Engineering at Tufts. "It is particularly special to host this conference in the Greater Boston region, which has transformed into one of the leading technology hubs in the country."
The symposium's three keynote lectures will be delivered by:
- Linton Salmon, Ph.D., a program manager at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), who will present "Microelectronics: Challenges and Opportunities," Aug. 7;
- Jesse Wheeler, Ph.D., a neurotechnology business lead at Draper Laboratory, who will present "Neurotechnology: Biomedical, Biomimetic, and Beyond," Aug. 8; and
- Donhee Ham, Ph.D., the Gordon McKay Professor of Applied Physics and Electrical Engineering at Harvard University, who will present "CMOS Electronics See Inside Biological Cellular Networks," Aug. 9
This year marks the 60th MWSCAS sponsored by IEEE. Several special events are planned to commemorate the history of the gathering.
