Elsevier updates cutting-edge chemical engineering references

Introduces 'Comprehensive Membrane Science and Engineering, Second Edition' and 'Recrystallization and Related Annealing Phenomena, Third Edition' with four additional titles

Business Announcement

Elsevier

Cambridge, MA, November 28, 2017 - Elsevier, the information analytics business specializing in science and health, today announced updates to two comprehensive reference works for chemical engineers and materials scientists. Comprehensive Membrane Science and Engineering, Second Edition, edited by Enrico Drioli, Lidietta Giorno and Enrica Fontananova, elaborates on recent and future developments in the field of membrane science and explores how the field has advanced since the previous edition published in 2010. Recrystallization and Related Annealing Phenomena,Third Edition, by Anthony Rollett, Gregory S. Rohrer and John Humphreys, highlights the significant recent progress in key areas such as deformed state, including deformation to very large strains, the characterization of microstructures by electron backscatter diffraction, the modeling and simulation of annealing, and continuous recrystallization. Elsevier also announced publication of four additional chemical engineering titles.

Comprehensive Membrane Science and Engineering, Second Edition is an interdisciplinary and innovative reference written by leading researchers and industry professionals from a range of backgrounds. Each volume covers a wide spectrum of applications and advanced technologies, such as new membrane materials and processes, which have only recently proven their full potential for industrial application. This work is a valuable tool for researchers and practitioners looking to challenge traditional industrial approaches to membrane science and engineering with innovative sustainable processes.

Co-Editor Enrico Drioli is Emeritus Professor at the School of Engineering of the University of Calabria, and Founding Director of the Institute on Membrane Technology, CNR, Italy. Co-Editor Lidietta Giorno, a membrane biotechnologist with a strong background in biological science, chemical technologies, and new materials, is currently Director of the Institute on Membrane Technology. Co-Editor Enrica Fontananova is a researcher at the Institute. She is involved in various national and international research projects, also as principal investigator.

Recrystallization and Related Annealing Phenomena, Third Edition fulfills the information needs of materials scientists in both industry and academia. The subjects treated in the book are all active research areas, forming a major part of at least four regular international conference series. It includes more than 50 percent new, revised and updated material, and all-new appendices on texture and measurements.

The six new chemical engineering titles are:

  • Comprehensive Membrane Science and Engineering, Second Edition, edited by Enrico Drioli, Lidietta Giorno and Enrica Fontananova

  • Recrystallization and Related Annealing Phenomena, Third Edition, by Anthony Rollett, Gregory S. Rohrer and John Humphreys

  • Process Safety Calculations, by Renato Benintendi

  • Infrared and Raman Spectroscopy: Principles and Spectral Interpretation, Second Edition, by Peter Larkin

  • Optimizing Thermal, Chemical, and Environmental Systems, by Stanislaw Sieniutycz and Zbigniew Szwast

  • General Chemistry for Engineers, by Jeffrey Gaffney and Nancy Marley

In order to meet content needs in chemical engineering, Elsevier uses proprietary tools to identify the gaps in coverage of the topics. Editorial teams strategically fill those gaps with content written by key influencers in the field, giving students, faculty and researchers the content they need to answer challenging questions and improve outcomes. These new books, which will educate the next generation of chemical engineers, and provide critical foundational content for information professionals, are key examples of how Elsevier is enabling science to drive innovation.
