Rohde & Schwarz, one of the world's leading manufacturers of information and communications technology products for professional users, has become a new Collaborator of 5TONIC, the leading Open 5G lab founded by Telefónica and IMDEA Networks.

The Collaboration agreement signed contemplates the cooperation between both parties in two main areas: training activities, with the joint preparation of seminars on 5G technologies, participation in academic activities promoted by 5TONIC and other dissemination activities; and availability in special conditions of R&S testing equipment for 5G trials, either by loan or via leasing. As a first outcome of this Collaboration agreement, Rohde & Schwarz will participate in the 5G Master being offered in 2018 by the University Carlos III of Madrid in cooperation with 5TONIC.

"We are very happy to have signed this Collaboration agreement with Rohde & Schwarz, that will allow us improving the evaluation of the 5G trials we are engaged in, thanks to the use of their superb testing and measurement technology," indicated Arturo Azcorra, 5TONIC vice Chairman and IMDEA Networks director.

"Rohde & Schwarz is very pleased to become a key technology partner and collaborate with 5TONIC for the 5G trials they are conducting", said David Gonzalo, Test & Measurement Manager, Rohde & Schwarz Spain. "Rohde & Schwarz, a world leader in all areas of RF and microwave test and measurement equipment and massively involved in mobile radio since the first generation, is committed to supporting the wireless communications industry with the solutions needed to investigate, develop and standardize 5G"

In order to facilitate the cooperation with other parties not willing to become full members, 5TONIC has designed a flexible collaborator agreement that allows for specific cooperation activities for a limited period of time in conditions to be agreed by all parties involved. Rohde & Schwarz becomes the third 5TONIC Collaborator, along ASTI and IFEMA.
