A field experiment involving more than 500 Israelis, around 29 years of age, during a period of extensive Israeli-Palestinian violence suggests that compared with a control intervention, an intervention designed to foster a belief in the malleability of groups achieved sustained long-term reductions in participants' negative attitudes about Palestinians and increased willingness to make concessions with Palestinians.
