World Scientific has published the inaugural volume of the first English Series on China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

Entitled The Political Economy of China's Belt and Road Initiative, the book analyzes China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) through the approach of political economy and establishes the analytic framework of BRI from historical and comparative perspectives. It clearly displays the strategic considerations, future vision, constructing framework, governmental actions, latest achievements, multiple opportunities and potential risks of BRI. Prof Kerry Brown, Director of Lau China Institute, King's College London describes "The Belt and Road Initiative, whatever the world makes of it at the moment," as "an important but complex initiative, especially since being written into China's Communist Party Constitution last year. It is important that there are Chinese and non-Chinese perspectives we can engage with on this".

In collaboration with three other top experts on the BRI initiative, Prof Kerry Brown co-leads the international editorial board of the Series on China's Belt and Road Initiative. The other three series editors are ZHENG Yongnian (Director, East Asian Institute, National University of Singapore, Singapore), WANG Yiwei (Director, Institute of International Affairs, Renmin University of China, China) and LIU Weidong (Assistant Director, Institute of Geographical Sciences and Natural Resources Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China).

The Series on China's Belt and Road Initiative, offers a valuable English-language resource for researchers, policymakers, professionals and students to understand the challenges and opportunities brought by the BRI. The book series showcases the most up-to-date and significant research on the BRI by leading scholars from inside and outside China. It presents a panoramic view on the BRI, from the perspectives of China's domestic policy, China's foreign investment, international relations, cultural cooperation and historical inheritance.
