Using data on oil palm suitability and primate distribution, diversity, and vulnerability in Africa, researchers report significant overlap between areas that could support oil palm production and areas with high primate conservation priorities; only a few areas, largely located in Madagascar, were identified as suitable for palm oil production and a low conservation risk for primates, findings highlighting the conservation challenges of oil palm cultivation in Africa.
