Public Release:

Announcing GulfPCR-GIM 2018: The leading-edge interventional Course in the Middle East

The eighth edition of the Middle East premier cardiovascular meeting will take place on Dec. 19-20, 2018 at the Grand Hyatt Dubai.

A relevant Programme, By and For the Middle Eastern interventional community

The Course Programme has been built in consideration of the region's patient treatment needs, as well as the educational demands of practitioners interested in spreading the best care in the Middle East and Gulf areas.

Indeed, the community submissions selected this year comprise an important part of the educational curriculum.

Case-based and practical education

The Programme also strives to stay relevant to practitioners' daily practice. Therefore, case-based sessions will occupy a major place in it. Participants will be able to explore upmost topics deriving from coronary and structural heart disease from an empirical perspective, which shall allow them to easily translate the acquired knowledge into practice.

Among these sessions participants will be able to find:

Case discussions, which invite the audience to immerse in dynamic peer-to-peer exchanges around a case. Not to be missed is the new session focused on drugs and devices synergy, dedicated to the understanding and delivery of the best pharmacological care in patients treated with devices.

Learning sessions, which have long become a hallmark of the PCR education. Guided by PCR ViTAL facilitators and held within a lively ambiance, these sessions will articulate around complex cases and techniques including bifurcation with TAP.

LIVE demonstrations, which will be transmitted Wednesday 19 and Thursday 20 in the Main Arena from the Sultan Qaboos University Hospital in Muscat - Oman and the Prince Sultan Cardiac Centre in Riyadh - Saudi Arabia. Both sessions will address distal left-main PCI and complex multivessel disease.

Focus on Nurses and Allied Professionals

A dynamic Learning session exploring team dynamics during cardiogenic shock and cardiac arrest in the cathlab has been specifically conceived for this community. The session is scheduled on Thursday 20, 8:30 am.

A thorough assessment of the interventional advances in 2018

The first edition of the "Year in review" session, held for the first time at GulfPCR-GIM 2017, generated a positive response from the audience. Therefore, the Course Directors have decided to include it in this year's Programme. This special segment will allow participants to catch up with the major advances and important trial results in the field of interventional cardiology that took place all throughout the year. In this occasion, the session will be led by Prof. Patrick W. Serruys.

Bringing the Middle-Eastern interventional community closer

Networking and interaction are two foremost components of the PCR learning experience. Therefore, this year's discussion and audience interaction periods have been added to the educational agenda. Placed in between sessions, these moments of exchange shall allow participants to enhance one another's Course experience and contribute to expand their network in the region and beyond.
