Based on fMRI data from 25 people, ages 20-34, researchers report changes in effective connectivity between brain regions involved in cortico-striato-thalamo-cortical (CSTC) feedback loops induced by the psychedelic drug LSD, some of which were prevented by treatment with a serotonin 2A receptor antagonist, consistent with the hypothesis that psychedelic drugs affect the brain by disrupting information processing in CSTC loops.
