Bowling Green, Ohio March 21, 2019 - Thomas Becker, PhD, has been named a Fellow of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP).

Becker is one of 20 distinguished industrial-organizational psychologists to be awarded SIOP Fellow status on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at the 34th Annual SIOP Conference.

The profession of industrial and organizational psychology addresses the full range of human interactions in organizational settings. Members of the profession may be researchers, teachers, practitioners or administrators. They work in several settings including in business, government, consulting, and academia. SIOP Fellows may be recognized for outstanding contributions to the profession in any of these areas.

Dr. Thomas Becker is a highly visible and productive scholar and an active contributor to the vitality of our profession. His contributions include a significant record of service in senior editorial roles for major journals and in giving a great deal of his time to committee work on behalf of SIOP. His scholarly accomplishments include substantial and impactful work shaping our understanding of the nature of employee commitment, and his development and sharing of key insights and innovative solutions in relation to research methods. Dr. Becker's work on the statistical control of variables in organizational research exemplifies his professional impact on the field of research methodology.

To be considered for SIOP Fellow status, a member must be nominated by another member, and endorsed by at least three more SIOP Fellows. A member who has been active in the Society for ten years or more is eligible based on meaningful, sustained and unusual impact on the field.
