Research by Ural Federal University's social and political scientists receives financial support

Four grants were awarded after a competition

The Russian Foundation for Basic Research and the Expert Institute for Social Research summed up the results of competitions aimed at supporting basic research projects in the field of social and political sciences. Scientists of Ural Federal University (Ekaterinburg, Russia) received four grants, getting the institution into the top five in terms of the number of grants won after MGIMO University, Moscow State University, SPSU and HSE.

The grants were received by Natalya Antonova with the study "Attractiveness of Territory as a Factor of Spatial Mobility of Young People: Images of the Future and the Present", Yana Didkovskaya with her work "Youth as a Subject of Politics: Social Well-being and Strategies of a Political Career in the Context of Civic Activity" and Alexey Loginov with the project named "Modern Structure of Political Consciousness: Values, Arguments, Identity". Among the best studies performed by talented young people under the guidance of a leading academic mentor, the grant was given to Ekaterina Cherepanova with her study "Citizenship and Social Activity of Young People in the Context of Transforming the Values Reproduction Practices: Axiological and Communicative Aspects".

"The topics of the winners' works are among the most relevant," said Andrei Shutov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Expert Institute for Social Research. "The projects will not only give impetus to the development of political science in the country, but also accelerate the creation of new national political schools. It is really important that the topics of the research fully comply with the current agenda - they will give answers to questions that are of great importance both for Russia and for the rest of the world."

982 applications were submitted for the contest from all federal districts of Russia. The expert council of the competition included leading Russian political scientists. The duration of the implementation of research projects ranges from 8 to 12 months, depending on the type of project. In total, grants were given to 145 Russian experts.
