Using a method to assess citation impact, researchers analyzed 24 million research articles written by 13 million individuals between 1945 and 2005, and 3.9 million US patents produced by 2.6 million individuals between 1975 and 2006, and found that compared with individual work, teamwork had greater citation impact, though the advantage declined as differences among team members' individual citations increased; according to the authors, the method might help predict the impact of individuals and teams.
