Scientific trustworthiness

Peer-Reviewed Publication

Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences

A Perspective recommends that scientific researchers and publishers broadly communicate that the norms of scientific research--culture of critique, replication of results, transparency, self-correction, and safeguards against bias--are being upheld; to this end, the authors recommend that researchers, journals, and research institutions adopt practices such as article certification badges, checklists, forward linking, identity verification, public data archiving, and clear language for describing withdrawn papers.

Article #19-13039: "Signaling the trustworthiness of science," by Kathleen Hall Jamieson, Marcia McNutt, Veronique Kiermer, and Richard Sever.
