Shin & Borup receive funding for webinar series about online teaching

Joan Kang Shin, Associate Professor, APTDIE, TCLDEL, CIE, College of Education and Human Development (CEHD), and Jered Borup, Associate Professor, Learning Technologies in Schools, CEHD, have developed three webinars and are writing three blogs as part of an effort to meet the needs of English teachers around the world who are currently teaching from home due to COVID-19.

The webinars addressed engaging students in meaningful activities, making the screen come alive, and building a supportive learning environment. The webinars for teachers in were held on March 12, March 19, and March 26, respectively. The global webinars, open to teachers in other countries around the world, were held in the morning and evening on March 18, March 25, and April 1, respectively.

The webinars were recorded and posted on the National Geographic Learning website (https://webinars.eltngl.com/) and the blogs will be a part of National Geographic Learning's (NGL) InFocus series (https://infocus.eltngl.com/).

The researchers received $20,365 from Cengage Learning for this project. Funding began in March 2020 and will conclude in late May 2020.
