Repair of central nervous system myelin

A study in mice finds that ursolic acid, a known anti-inflammatory compound, can promote the repair of myelin in the central nervous system, even in the chronic phases of autoimmune myelin disorders such as multiple sclerosis; the results suggest that ursolic acid may be beneficially combined with current immunomodulatory therapy to treat multiple sclerosis, according to the authors.
