Dennis Sourvanos named 2021 recipient of the AADR William B. Clark Fellowship

Alexandria, Va., USA - The American Association for Dental Research (AADR) announced Dennis Sourvanos, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, as the 2021 recipient of the AADR William B. Clark Fellowship. Sourvanos was recognized during the Opening Ceremonies of the virtual 50th Annual Meeting of the AADR, held in conjunction with the 99th General Session & Exhibition of the International Association for Dental Research (IADR) and the 45th Annual Meeting of the Canadian Association for Dental Research (CADR), on July 21-24, 2021.

Sourvanos is a fourth-year advanced graduate dental education resident concurrently pursuing a Doctor of Science in Dentistry (D.Sc.D.) and a specialty certificate with the department of periodontics at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, Philadelphia. He is also a candidate for the Certificate in Translational Research Regulatory Sciences through the Perelman School of Medicine Institute for Translational Medicine Applied Therapeutics (ITMAT) -- which is supported through the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences of the National Institutes of Health. Sourvanos received his B.S. in dental hygiene and D.D.S. from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles. As a periodontal resident, his research interests are focused on the development of novel biotherapies for hard and soft tissue regeneration. Sourvanos aims to enhance evidence-based oral healthcare and precision dental medicine.

The AADR William B. Clark Fellowship was established in memory of William B. Clark and is supported by P&G Professional Oral Health, Crest + Oral-B. The award recognizes investigators carrying out clinical research in periodontology. The Fellowship consists of a monetary award of $5,000 to assist with travel and other support related to training during the fellowship period.
