Metals in Plume (IMAGE) Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Caption The top three panels show concentrations of dissolved iron, manganese and aluminum measured during the voyage. The bottom panel shows concentration of helium-3, an unreactive gas that emanates from hydrothermal vents. Its decreasing concentration away from the ridge is a result of mixing rather than a chemical reaction. Credit (Credit: J.
