Enhanced FIB-SEM images of untreated cells and cells treated with Torin, which causes nutrient stress. The ER exit sites (magenta), ER (blue), and all lysosome-related organelles (cyan) are identified. In untreated cells, ER exit sites were scattered throughout the cytoplasm and far away from lysosomes. In Torin-treated cells, by contrast, ER exit sites were often in close vicinity to a lysosome-related structure.
