Research by Dartmouth professor and former astronaut Jay Buckey suggests that once-daily urine samples can track the risk of bone-density loss and kidney stone formation during space flight. Buckey, a professor of medicine who directs the Space Medicine Innovations Lab at Dartmouth, was aboard Space Shuttle Columbia's STS-90 mission in 1998 (pictured at right).
