Long-tailed gorals, here photographed in a restoration programme in South Korea, are restricted to the Korean Peninsula, China and Russia and are considered vulnerable to extinction. They are listed under Appendix I of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), the highest level of protection afforded by the convention.
