Zebrafish embryos infected with the Zika virus (ZIKV) exhibit severe developmental abnormalities, such as a smaller head, curved tail, and shortened spinal cord. These defects are specific to ZIKV, as they are not observed following injection with another closely related virus that does not target the brain (DENV)
