Histological image of aortic valves in a mouse model of atherosclerosis. Red staining (Oil Red O) highlights lipid accumulation. On the left, the aortic valve of an untreated mouse shows an extensive atherosclerotic lesion. On the right, a mouse treated with dexamethasone-loaded nanoparticles targeting cDC1s shows marked lipid reduction and less lesion development. These nanoparticles enable targeted immune modulation, reducing the inflammation associated with atherosclerosis progression.
