The variations of α decay energy (left) and half-lives (right) against the neutron number for Sg, Hs and Ds isotopes. The red symbols represent the experimental data, the black symbols represent the estimated data based on the WS4 nuclear mass model. (IMAGE)

Since most nuclei around N = 162 have not been synthesized, predicting their decay energies, preformation factors, half-lives, etc. can provide guidance for future synthetic experiments. More importantly, many countries around the world are competing to synthesize new elements. Thus, it is necessary to study the nuclear structure and properties for these extreme nuclei.
