Influence of the pigment YAS on cellulose degradation by the bacterium

The comparison of two cultures of Clostridium thermocellum with filter paper as a cellulose source shows the influence of the pigment YAS on cellulose degradation by the bacterium. While the left paper is completely degraded in the serum, part of the right paper remains largely intact without contact with YAS.
