Understanding human-AI interaction to develop emotionally intelligent AI systems (IMAGE)
Caption
Professor Shogo Okada from JAIST leads a research group that studies multimodal signals – verbal and nonverbal communication – to explore how AI responses can be modulated according to the users’ emotions. By using speech signal processing, image processing, motion sensor processing, and pattern recognition techniques, Prof. Okada’s research explores how social signals influence consensus building, communication skills, etc. Using these cutting-edge technologies, Prof. Okada intends to develop emotionally intelligent AI systems.
