Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) has expanded and advanced a ballistic resistance testing technique, the Laser-Induced Particle Impact Test (LIPIT), previously only used for microscopic projectile impact testing. Here, SwRI’s Dr. Daniel Portillo positions a test article for LIPIT evaluation using the larger impact projectiles to better simulate full-scale impact testing.
