Discovering new phases of MXenes (IMAGE)
Caption
MXenes are materials that could help enhance the performance of electronics in extreme conditions. Brian Wyatt, a postdoctoral researcher in Babak Anasori's lab at Purdue University, is the first author on a new study that has designed, discovered and characterized nearly 40 different nanolayered structures of MAX phases, which are the "parent material" from which MXenes are derived. The work represents major progress in expanding the potential applications of these materials, says Wyatt.
