Portrait of a farm worker from the Cape Peninsula region of Africa dating back to the early 20th century. Margaret Laubser painted individuals in the Cape who descend from the indigenous Khoe-San people; these populations also absorbed European, South Asian, Indonesian and equatorial African ancestors over the past 400 years.
