Prof Erick Strauss is co-director of the new Africa Centre for Therapeutic Innovation launched at Stellenbosch University, South Africa, on 15 October 2025. His research group in the Department of Biochemistry is trying to develop new anti-tuberculosis agents that works by causing the tuberculosis bacterium to destroy its own essential proteins.
