Comparative histological analysis of brain tissue with and without electrode coating (IMAGE)
Caption
The extent of brain tissue damage was analyzed depending on the presence of the electrode coating. Uncoated electrodes induced higher expression of inflammation-related markers (GFAP, CD68). In contrast, coated electrodes significantly suppressed their expression, while showing nearly a two-fold increase in NeuN protein, a marker of healthy neurons, around the electrode surface.
