Caption
Recording daily rhythms of cortical neural signals. (A) In Thy1-ChR2 rats, cortical neurons were optogenetically activated, and local field potentials (LFPs) were recorded in the visual cortex. (B) The slope of the third negative LFP phase was larger at sunset than at sunrise, indicating stronger responses in the evening. (C) Averaged signals over three days showed a ~24-hour sinusoidal pattern synchronized with the light-dark cycle.
