NPS team advances quantum sensing research with atomic fountain

An NPS team is helping doctoral student U.S. Navy Cmdr. Jens Berdahl, second from right, advance the school's quantum sensing research by erecting an atomic fountain in an unused elevator shaft in Spanagel Hall on campus. The research led to Berdahl's receipt of the highly competitive Margaret Burbidge Award for Best Experimental Research by a Graduate Student, presented by the American Physical Society, Far West Section.
