Marine sponge from the Sugashima coast, Japan (IMAGE)
Caption
Marine sponge from the Sugashima coast in Japan, where researchers isolated multicellular-prone Hortaea werneckii. All strains were found on the surfaces of marine animals like these, where the yeast's multicellular form appears to help it resist being washed away by ocean currents.
