A motorized three-axis stage scanned a 12 mm × 11 mm area in the transverse plane with 1 mm steps in x and y, and 5 mm steps in z. Each measurement plane required about 4.5 minutes. Background fields were recorded and subtracted to ensure accurate multipole analysis.
